The purpose of the organization is to create and maintain a useful, objective, reliable and comprehensive health information database that is used to improve the health of Maine citizens. Learn More Recent Announcements April 30, 2024 - Rule Chapter 270 Adopted Proposed Rule Chapter 270 - Uniform Reporting System for Health Care Quality Data Sets was adopted and is effective 5/23/24. April 11, 2024 - Two Proposed Rules, Public Hearing Date & Public Comments Deadline: Proposed Rule Chapter 243 - Uniform Reporting System for Health Care Claims Data Sets The proposed rule changes incorporate feedback from the reporting entities specific to the structure for reporting capitation data to the Maine Health Data Organization. These changes will improve the process by which payors report capitated data to the MHDO including payments and services. Proposed Rule Chapter 340 - Uniform Reporting System for Reporting 340B Drug Program Data Sets This new rule is being proposed to implement the provisions in Title 22 M.R.S. §1728(2)(A-D)(3). A virtual public hearing will be held for the two proposed rules above on May 1, 2024 at 9:00 A.M. EST. The deadline for public comments for both rules is May 13, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. EST. March 19, 2024 - New Report: Annual Facility Fees Report Public Law 2023, Chapter 410 (LD1795), An Act to Create Greater Transparency for Facility Fees Charged by Health Care Providers and to Establish the Task Force to Evaluate the Impact of Facility Fees on Patients , requires the Maine Health Data Organization (MHDO) to submit an annual report on payments for facility fees made by payers, to the extent that payment information is already reported to the organization. March 11, 2024 - Second Annual Report on Behavioral Health Care Spending Public Law 2021, Chapter 603, requires the Maine Quality Forum to develop an annual report on behavioral health care spending using claims data from the Maine Health Data Organization. February 23, 2024 New Report: Public Law 2019, Chapter 244, requires the Maine Quality Forum to develop an annual report on primary care spending using claims data from the Maine Health Data Organization. February 7, 2024 New Report: MHDO’s Annual Prescription Drug Pricing Transparency Report Public Law 2019, Chapter 470, An Act to Further Expand Drug Price Transparency, requires the Maine Health Data Organization to submit an annual report on prescription drug pricing to the Joint Standing Committee on Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services. The findings of our fourth annual report are now available. January 11, 2024 - New FY2022 MHDO Standardized Hospital Financial Data Reports Are Now Available The Annual Summary Reports have been condensed and include both unconsolidated hospital financial data and consolidated health system financial data. The unconsolidated hospital data covers a five year period (FY 2018 – 2022) and includes data elements as reported by Maine hospitals and common financial ratios. The consolidated health system data covers a two year period (FY 2021 – 2022). The updated reports can be found on our Hospital Financials web page. October 27, 2023 - Nursing Facilities MHDO recently posted an updated CDI LabID Reporting Fact Sheet that includes additional information on resources available to assist nursing facilities with meeting the CDI LabID event reporting requirements defined in 90-590 Chapter 270, Uniform Reporting System for Health Care Quality Data Sets. April 4, 2023 - NEW Report on Behavioral Health Care Spending Public Law 2021, Chapter 603, requires the Maine Quality Forum to develop an annual report on behavioral health care spending using claims data from the Maine Health Data Organization. February 27, 2023 - New Report Public Law 2021, Chapter 606, requires the Maine Health Data Organization (MHDO) to produce an annual report to be posted on its publicly accessible website that provides information regarding potential savings that could be achieved by subjecting drugs identified as the costliest and most frequently prescribed in the State to a reference rate as defined in the law. April 2022 - HCUP (Healthcare Cost And Utilization Project) Statistical Briefs HCUP Statistical Briefs are developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and provide healthcare statistics on hospital inpatient stays, emergency department visits, and ambulatory surgeries.
